Hotspots/Chomebook Lending

The Lynn Public Library now has mobile hotspots available for checkout!  This hotspot program is to help provide our patrons access to the internet, free of charge. The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC), using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds administered by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), has created a public library hotspot lending program to help enable every member of a community to participate fully in digital commerce, employment, and learning.

  • Any resident from Lynn, who is 18 years and older can checkout a mobile hotspot. Only one hotspot is allowed per household.  Must have a valid Library Card.
  • Hotspots may be borrowed for 2 weeks. Renewals are permitted when available.  Hotspots must be returned to the Lynn Public Library Reference Department
  • Patrons, must return the hotspot as it was given and adhere to the Lynn Public Library’s internet policy.  It will be the borrowers responsibility for any damage to losing privileges.
  • Hotspots maybe reserved by calling the Reference Desk at 781-595-0567 x102 during normal business hours. Hotspots will be picked up within 1 day of reservation or it will be set aside for the next user.
  • Hotspots must be returned to the Reference Department at the Lynn Public Library. Please do not put them in a drop off box. They should be returned with the power cord, SIM card, battery and case to the library in good working order.
  • If the hotspots are not returned within 3 days after the due date, service will be turned off and the hotspot will become unusable. If the hotspot is damaged or not working, please return it to the Reference Desk at the Lynn Public Library.

The Lynn Public Library will have no liability for direct, indirect or consequential damages related to the use of the mobile hotspots, including loss of data, or privacy invasions.  Those who use the hotspots do so at their own risk and assume full liability for their actions. Hotspots users are accessing the internet through the T-Mobile network not the ‘library’ network.

Illegal acts involving Library equipment or services may also be subject to prosecution.

LYNN PUBLIC LIBRARY Chromebook Lending Policy

The Lynn Public Library provides access to public computers internet and now available Chromebooks for checkout.

  • Any resident from Lynn, who is 18 years and older can borrow a Chromebook.
  • Only one Chromebook is allowed per household.  Must have a valid Lynn Library Card, no outstanding debts.
  • Chromebook may be borrowed for 3 weeks. One renewal is permitted.
  • Chromebooks must be returned to the Lynn Library Reference Department, please do not put them in the drop off box.

Responsibilities
